A show that explores the life of a group of bebop era jazz musicians as they search for freedom in America during a time of struggle. Through testimonials and vivid flashbacks we are transplanted back to an era of jazz where the music was vibrant and the country was gearing up for a major change. Herb Newsome transforms into multiple characters and weaving the story with live jazz music on five different instruments. A performance that critics have described as “A one man marvel”, “Positively Amazing”, with “August Wilson-like power”.
